Harley Panhead/Gen Shovel OEM Battery Tray (Regulator Bracket Repair Needed)

This is a genuine H-D tray for the 1965-67 vintage, but as you can see, it is missing its regulator mounting bracket.  The original welds can be seen in our photos. 

And although this tray appears to share most of the essential features of the '70 and later trays, it is missing one specific feature that late FL's required--a slot for hooking the tray top cover.  That means this tray can ONLY be used for the 1965-67 vintage, and the regulator bracket must be restored to be usable tray.

Otherwise, the fundamentals are very good, and the tray is in good, square condition.

FITMENT NOTE:

Using Palmer's classification terminology, there were four "Types" of the 12 volt battery tray, as follows:

Type 1: 1965-L67
Type 1, sub-type 2: 1968-69
Type 2: 1970-73
Type 3: 1974-79
Type 4: 1980-84

This is the Type 1, Sub-Type 1 tray, distinguished by its lack of integrated relay bracket, which is correct.  For this vintage, a separate mount bracket was used. The integrated bracket was not introduced until 1968.
