Harley Ironhead Sportster Side Mount Style License Plate Bracket (5/8" Axles)

Solid, reinforced steel stock construction, so the design is well-executed.  Chrome finish is faded, dated, and has light pitting and patina.

This is intended to be axle-mounted, and the 5/8" axle hole indicates specific use for early K or XL models.  This will not fit the Big Twins, which generally required a 3/4" or larger axle.  License plate mount face has a pair of holes with 3" centers.  So we would assume this originally sold as a kit with a backing plate.  So an adapter plate, of some sort, will need to be fabricated.  But we suspect any common reinforcement plate from the early XL or Shovelhead era would be sufficient.
