Harley FLH Shovelhead REAR Fender Tip  (1967-71)

Very nice, clean condition. 

Chrome is bright, and it shows nice.  No scrapes.  And no cracks.  And all three mounting screw holes have excellent threads with one screw attached.  We are noting some light scratches and minor finish wear.  But otherwise fairly nice with no flaking or pitting.

Generally, we would expect to see a casting number.  But none exists on the inner surface, which is very odd.  Why?  Because this casting agrees with OEM tips in every other respect, including weight and finish.  In contrast, every reproduction we have ever seen is constructed from cheap pot metal, very light in weight, and their chrome plating quality is quite poor.  Those things are not true of this tip.

In brief, we have NEVER seen a tip with this casting and plating quality unless it was an OEM tip.  And all known reproductions are notoriously cheap.  So this is either an OEM casting, without the number.  Or its an excellent reproduction, both in terms of casting quality and plating finish, consistent with known OEM tips for this vintage.

NOTE--this is a REAR tip, ONLY.  It will not fit on the front fender.  Front versions have a lower profile, and they feature small casting lugs for attaching the front fender spears.
