Harley FL Shovelhead Brake Pedal, OEM #42402-70  (Early Style, 1970-72)

This is the early pedal, specific to the FL/FLH model for the 1970-72 vintage, only.

It is distinguished by its spring mounting tab which has a 90 degree angle.  For 1973 and later, the spring tab had a 45 degree angle.  But there were other important differences between the early and late pedal, which we have detailed in the "FITMENT NOTE" section, below.

Original finish is weathered and dated.  But refinishing is straightforward, if required.  Very sturdy.  Grease fitting is attached.

FITMENT NOTE: There were two versions of this pedal:  early #42402-70 for 1970-72 and late #42402-73 for 1973-78.    This is the early version for '70-'72 applications.    From what we have observed, the differences between the early and late versions are threefold:  1) the return spring tab on this pedal has a horizontal orientation whereas the late version is angled up at 45 degrees.    2)  the clevis tab on this early pedal is slightly shorter compared to the late pedal, which is marginally taller.    And, 3) the shaft bore on this pedal is approximately 11/16".  In contrast, we believe the '73-'78 pedal used a bushing with a 5/8" diameter.   That means early and late pedals and plates DO NOT interchange.
