S&S Super E/G #170-0042 Air Cleaner Plate  (For 2-Hole Mini/Stealth Covers)

Frankly, we are not experts on the late style air cleaner assemblies from S&S. 

What we do know is that this plate is patterned for the Super E or Super G.  And, the air cleaner cover and plate size are correct for the late style, 2-hole covers, which are generally called the "stealth" style. 

However, there are two features that have us perplexed: 

1)  There are no breather/support tabs.  Reviewing the back side, you can see where the original breather tab castings would normally be.  However, the paint appears to be original, which leads us to believe that this plate may have come from S&S, in this form.  That being said, we've not been able to locate this plate from the S&S web site with these specific features.  It's possible, of course, that the castings could have been shaved and the plate repainted.  If so, the work was absolutely exquisite. 

2)  The screw holes for mounting to the carburetor are machined with threads.  This is consistent with the late S&S stealth air cleaner assemblies.  But we don't know what sort of hardware was used for attaching to the E/G body.  So we're probably showing our lack of expertise.  But, again, this machining style is correct for late style stealth assemblies.
