Old School Chopper Oil Filter/Cooler Unit & Horn (Horse Hair Type Filters)

We don't know the manufacturing origins of this unit, but we do see them, on rare occasions.  It is very well-constructed, and it operates as both external oil filter as well as oil cooler.  And it uses the early Shovelhead style 'horse hair" type filters.

This is a complete assembly.  Filter is secured by the inner housing, an outer ring, and a spring with tension applied by an indexed ring on the inside surface of the side cover.  Simply remove the four screws, and all internals are easily accessed.  Attached horn, we presume, was part of the original configuration.  The unit is 12 volt, and it does work.  Quite loudly, in fact.

New filter is required, prior to use.  Access door is sealed with a gasket, which is present.  But we suspect replacement gaskets are no longer available, if required.  So we recommend using the existing gasket as a template for construction one of your own.
