Harley Shovelhead Lifter Block/Tappet Guide Screws, 12 Point 1/4-20 (1976-84)
Harley used an early hydraulic block and screw set from 1953-early 1976. But in late 1976, a different block style and screw set was used. In general. early blocks used countersunk mount screws with a 1/4-24 size and pitch. However, late blocks used the 12-point, 1/4-20 screw set. This is the late set.
NOTE--with respect to application, we used the term "in general" because there may be exceptions. Specifically, Factory references show continued use of 1/4-24 countersunk screws on some FL models after '76. And FX references indicate "cap screw" use from as early as 1971-'76 on the FX models. Therefore, the best way to verify proper fitment is to review the machining of your cases for either 1/4-24 or 1/4-20 pitch. Then select the correct block and screw set for those cases.
