Harley Panhead, Shovelhead REAR Tappet Guide/Lifter Block (OEM 1953-E76)
Fundamentals are very good.
No cracks, no damage, and no repairs. Bores are straight, and we have already tested a standard tappet in each--fitment was excellent with no evident play, and the tappet movement was smooth and clean with virtually no drag, so these bores are straight. Other than normal tappet tracking, we are noting a moderate score in one of the bores, near the top. Otherwise, we consider the fundamentals to be very good.
FITMENT NOTE:
This is the early, countersunk style in cast iron construction, so it requires use of the countersunk style screw, hex head, using a 1/4-24 screw set. In contrast, late blocks (late 1976-84) used a flat-based, 12-point screw with a 1/4-20 pitch. So carefully review your existing cases for the correct screw pitch and hardware requirements.
