Harley Panhead/Shovel Shifter Lever & Plate (SMOOTH Shaft, Circlip Type, 1965-73)
Foot shift assemblies were introduced in 1953, but there were a few variations. This particular plate and lever set would be correct for the 1965-73 vintage.
Unique to the 1965-73 vintage was the late style cover screw mount. Pre-'64 plates used a standoff type spool with a different cover. Also, the lever, here, features the late, circlip-style clevis retainer. Lastly, for the '65-later vintage, the one-piece toe/heal shifter was used, so the shaft has an outboard shaft section, only, where the '64 and earlier shafts had both outboard and inboard sections, one for the toe shifter arm and another for the heal shifter arm.
Finish is a silver paint with obvious chipping, but refinishing is straightforward. Forward board tab is square, not distorted. And plate flange face is also square. No cracks. No damage. No repairs.

NOTE: please note the shifter lever has a SMOOTH shaft, so a smooth bore toe-heal shifter arm will be required. Plate has a dated chrome finish, but the footboard tab is straight, not bent. And all mounting face holes have good shape.
