Harley Panhead/Generator Shovelhead 12 Volt Battery Tray  (Aftermarket, 1965-67)

Aftermarket tray.  Not OEM.

Construction is generally good, and the tray is square with solid welds on the tab locations.  The spot welds on the voltage regulator studs, however, are pretty weak.  Although they feel secure, the build up of weld material seems to us a bit light.  It would not surprise us if these broke loose over time.  Which means the studs will eventually turn.  So we recommend using lockwashers and conventional nuts, not nylocs.

Otherwise, the chrome shows bright and clean.  No evidence of any previous use.  So this is probably a new tray, but older stock.  It has some light finish wear, subject to long-term shop storage.  So we've listed it as used.

FITMENT NOTE:  please note, this is the early style tray, generally correct for 1965-late '67.  It is distinguished by the absence of an integrated relay bracket, which did not appear until '68.
