Harley Panhead Duo/Hydra Glide Brake Drum, OEM Black, 1949-66 (Casting #44110-48)
We're told the '49 drum and backing plate feature '48 cast numbers and late versions, for 1950-later, feature the '49 cast number. The "48 drum", therefore, is often touted as being a rare, one-year only drum, but we tend to see them fairly often.
Early production bike drums had the "clover" style flange, but the late, circular-style flange drums, as seen here, are also common.
All lug holes have clean, straight threads, and we have already tested lug fitment in each, and there was virtually no binding when turned in, by hand. So no burrs are present. Machined surface is fairly clean and straight, and we are not finding any evidence of drum lining ridging, whatsoever, so the surface remains square.
