Harley Panhead Buddy Seat Passenger Peg Bracket (Type 2, LEFT Side; 1955-57)
According to Palmer's Restoration Guide, there are 4 "Types" of this bracket, and the differences between them regards the number of holes present as well as the bends that may or may not be present, as follows:
Type 1: 1941-46. No bends, no holes
Type 2: 1947-54. No bends, 3 holes
Type 3: 1955-57. Bend at the board mount end, flat at peg end, 3 holes
Type 4: 1958-64. Bend at board mount end, bend at peg mount end, 3 holes
This bracket, however, appears to be a variation on the Type 3 bracket. Specifically, the bend is at the peg end and not the mount end. Did Bruce Palmer miss this one? Or is it a sub-type? Reproduction? We don't know. And more research may be required. But the paint finish looks original Harley-Davidson to us. So more research may be required.
