Harley Old School Chopper BRASS PLATED Foot Shifter Peg (3 5/8" Overall Length)
A fairly unusual piece that we obtained with an early Panhead-era shifter arm.
The outside surface appears to be brass, but the underlying material is ferrous (magnets attract). And there is a section of the tip that has a silver finish, so we are presuming this to be brass plating over steel stock. The ribbed sections are spaced approximately 1/8" apart, which is probably too wide for "O" rings, so we suspect the machined ribs were for added for design and function.
The machining style is difficult to place. So origins is unknown. But domestic USA manufacturing is highly likely. Possibly home-made by someone with a lathe, which would make it very unique. That's our best guess, anyway.
FITMENT NOTE: stud is the long style, generally used on early shifter arms with a smooth bore and a smooth peg mount hole. Overall length measures 3 5/8", but the peg section, minus the stud, measures 2 7/8" long. Weight is 7 ounces.
