Harley Lockhart Oil Cooler With Built-In Thermostat Bypass  (FX/FL/FLT)

Generally very good condition.  

Frame is square, fins are straight, and nipples are secure.  We are noting one torn fin and a minor impact mark on one of the grill guards.  Otherwise, very nice.  Lower cover is clean, but the chrome has light finish wear and minor blemishes. 

We cleaned in light solvent, straightened a few fins, then applied a light coat of flat black to the fins.  But the frame remains an original semi-gloss.

This cooler style is common to late Shovelhead and early Evolution models.  It's frame is similar to the early Lockhart, but this later style uses an integrated, thermostatically-controlled bypass valve located under the chrome cover.  Also, the bracket mount centers are 4", so the early "V" bracket for the traditional Lockhart will not work with this cooler.

FITMENT NOTE--as noted, mount centers measure 4", so the early "V" bracket can not be used.  But we have seen this cooler with OEM bracket #62603-80, which we know fits correctly.  That being said, we did not find that part number in any of our Factory references. So this cooler, and its bracket, probably appears in Factory Accessory Catalogs.  We recommend using the bracket number #62603-80 if more research is required.

BYPASS NOTE--access for servicing/cleaning the integrated bypass valve is obtained by removing the chrome cover.  A ring retainer holds the valve components in place.  Outer valve cap uses an "O" ring for sealing.

OIL SEAL--although condition is very nice, we still recommend checking bypass location for any leaks.
