Harley FX Boat Back Shovelhead Super Glide Shift Lever (OEM 1971-72)

This is an original FX SuperGlide casting with a SMOOTH bore. 

Chrome is dated with fading and general finish wear.  And we are noting impact marks around the shaft hole.  Also, we are noting two additional features.  First, you will note a small machined hole on the lever end, nearest the shaft hole.  We don't believe this is original, so a previous user may have anticipated machining a set screw hole.  Or, it's possible a locating pin was intended to be used.  We're not sure.  As is, the hole is not threaded.

Second, we are noting the pinch bolt hole has threads.  To our knowledge, this is not original.  Again, we must assume a previous user tapped the hole to receive a bolt.  We presume this was done to add additional "bite" and holding strength.  These mechanical techniques are not uncommon for these early, smooth bore arms.  Which tended to slip with use.

A good piece.  But a few distinct features are present.

FITMENT NOTE--as noted, this lever has a SMOOTH bore, so please review your existing shifter shafts for smooth or splined features.
