Harley Evolution FLT/FXR Starter Housing, 1986-88 (OEM Casting #31484-86)

From 1980-88, the Factory used four different housings on FLT and FXR models, and four part numbers were used. Casting numbers generally follow part number conventions for first year use, so we believe this casting corresponds to OEM part number #31572-86 (part numbers and cast numbers often differed for this vintage.)

Some of these housings were machined for the inner primary case locating pins while others were not.  Both are correct. This example does not have them, but it's the same housing in every other respect and fully interchangeable with other "pinned" versions.

Raised cast number clearly present. Machined screw holes have good, straight threads, and the needle bearing is fully intact.
