Harley Davidson FX Shovelhead Shift Lever  (OEM #34564-74, 1974-76)

This is an original shift lever, OEM #34564-74.  However, we have discovered two variations on this casting.  But the variations are fairly minor, though distinguishable.  

For example, in this variation, you will note the casting above the shifter shaft hole has a rounded contour that transitions to a right angle fairly quickly.  It's alternative has rounded contour that transitions in a much more smoother arch.  Also, there is more material in below the shifter shaft hole, relative to its counterpart.  And the pinch slot is also longer.  However, both versions feature pinch bolts that do not pass through the splined shaft hole.  In contrast, some later versions machined the pinch bolt hole closer to the shaft bore, allowing partial bolt engagement with the splined shaft.

Original cast finish still looks good.  We are nothing some minor wear on the show side, and the original silver finish is faded.  But it is original, and condition is generally very good.
