Harley Shovelhead Oil Pump Cover   (Early-Mid 1980s Style)

We have not mastered the various late model pump covers.  However, we do know the Factory configured pump features, depending on the model. 

This particular style, with the "closed" lower left bolt hole flange, was generally introduced in 1981.  But we're not sure how late it might have been used.  But we do know that in the late '80s, both upper left and lower left bolt hole flanges were "open."  So, in general, we suspect application for late Shovelhead models beginning in 1981 and likely through '84.   But by '85, we suspect new models saw new changes, particularly the "open" flange bolt hole features.  Even so, we believe use to '91 is possible.  But more research may be required.

Features include a chain oiler tube and adjusting screw.  Also, since taking these photos, we have added the upper cover tube, OEM #26247-78.  Lastly, note a plug on the interior wall of the return tube/cavity.  This is correct, and we have seen NOS photos of this cover, previously.  So we know this was a correct feature, from the Factory.  We suspect the same casting was variously amended for differing production purposes.
