Harley Panhead, Shovelhead FRONT Tappet Guide/Lifter Block (OEM 1953-E76)
Fundamentals all look good--there are no cracks, no damage, and no repairs. Bores a pretty clean, but we are noting normal, light tappet and light debris tracks. But we have already tested a few OEM tappets in the bores, and fitment was smooth and clean with no evidence of excess play.
Finish is chrome plating, which is fair-to-good. But it does show finish wear and light fading, but a little better than most. So it's not too bad, and it shows clean.
FITMENT NOTE:
This is the early, countersunk style in cast iron construction, so it requires use of the countersunk style screw, hex head, using a 1/4-24 screw set. In contrast, late blocks (late 1976-84) used a flat-based, 12-point screw with a 1/4-20 pitch. So carefully review your existing cases for the correct screw pitch and hardware requirements.
